About the grape
The 2013 Signorello Estate Padrone is primarily composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller portions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its deep color and robust tannins, thrives in Napa Valley's rocky soils, contributing to the wine's structure and aging potential. Merlot adds softness and ripe fruit flavors, balancing the blend, while Cabernet Franc introduces subtle herbal notes and complexity. The grapes are sourced from the estate's best hillside blocks, where the challenging terrain results in low yields but intensely flavored fruit.

Producer
Signorello Estate, co-founded in 1977 by Ray Signorello Sr. and his son Ray Jr., began as a vineyard supplying grapes to other wineries. Recognizing the exceptional quality of their fruit, they transitioned to winemaking in 1985, producing their first estate-grown vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. In 2017, the winery was devastated by the Atlas Peak Fire, leading to a comprehensive rebuild that culminated in a state-of-the-art, fire-resistant facility integrated into the hillside, which reopened in 2024. This new winery is entirely off-the-grid, powered by solar energy, and features an 11,431-square-foot underground cave for production and hospitality.
