SommeliAI Insights
A rich and full-bodied Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, and subtle herbal undertones.
About this wine
The 2014 Signorello Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Merlot, aged for 19 months in 80% new French oak barrels. This wine presents a deep ruby color and opens with aromas of ripe blackcurrant and raspberry, complemented by subtle herbal notes and a touch of cedar. On the palate, it offers a supple, rounded profile with flavors of dark berries and hints of herbes de Provence, leading to a long, elegant finish. The balanced acidity and integrated tannins make it approachable now, yet it has the structure to age gracefully over the next decade. Notably, this vintage reflects the elegant and charming style characteristic of the 2014 Napa Valley harvest.
About the grape
Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape in the 2014 Signorello Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, is renowned for its thick skins and small berries, contributing to the wine's deep color and robust tannins. Cabernet Franc, a parent grape of Cabernet Sauvignon, adds aromatic complexity and subtle spice notes. Merlot, known for its softer tannins and lush fruit flavors, brings balance and approachability to the blend. At Signorello Estate, these varietals are cultivated on well-drained volcanic soils with varying slopes, enhancing the grapes' concentration and character.

Producer
Signorello Estate, co-founded in 1977 by Ray Signorello Sr. and his son Ray Jr., began as a vineyard supplying grapes to other wineries. Recognizing the exceptional quality of their fruit, they transitioned to winemaking in 1985, producing their first estate-grown vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. In 2017, the winery was devastated by the Atlas Peak Fire, leading to a comprehensive rebuild that culminated in a state-of-the-art, fire-resistant facility integrated into the hillside, which reopened in 2024. This new winery is entirely off-the-grid, powered by solar energy, and features an 11,431-square-foot underground cave for production and hospitality.
