Cantine Giacomo Montresor was founded in 1892 by Giacomo Montresor in Verona, beginning as a family wine business that promoted local Veronese varieties. In the 1930s the company built the current winery complex on Via Cà di Cozzi, which remains the estate headquarters today. Over the twentieth century Montresor expanded into Valpolicella and other Veneto denominations, becoming known for Amarone and for the satin finish bottle that became an icon abroad. In 2018 Terre Cevico and Cantine di Verona acquired shares and launched the Montresor Heritage project to preserve and promote the house legacy. In 2022 the estate opened the Montresor Wine Museum at the winery to celebrate its 130th anniversary and its long link with Verona and traditional appassimento practices.
