About the grape

In the late 19th century, Count Melchiori planted Carménère, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Löwengang vineyard in Magrè, Alto Adige, Italy. These vines, some of the oldest in the region, have been preserved through massal selection to maintain their unique DNA. Carménère, originally from Bordeaux, was often mistaken for Merlot due to their similarities. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, also Bordeaux natives, are known for their adaptability and are widely cultivated globally.
